Belgium has a wide range of charitable initiatives, but it has not always been easy to identify them or know which ones to support. That is why the Because platform was created. In just a few clicks, it is now possible to find an association in your local area.

Because aims to be the go-to resource for anyone wishing to learn about good causes or contribute to the public interest. It provides detailed information on organizations in all fields, automatically updated thanks to an official database.

We began by designing the platform's brand identity. This was followed by close cooperation throughout the development process, punctuated by regular co-construction workshops and constructive back-and-forth discussions, enabling us to develop a platform that closely meets the needs of the sector and end users.

Objective: to inspire solidarity and commitment

For WebstanZ, working with the King Baudouin Foundation on because has been an exciting adventure, as collaboration has been at the heart of the project from the very beginning.

The because.eu platform brings together more than 30,000 organizations active in the social profit sector in a single online directory. Each organization has its own dedicated page, and its managers can modify the content by creating a secure account in Drupal. These accounts are validated by the administrators of the because website.

The main objective is to ensure a dynamic, accurate, and useful directory through direct collaboration with stakeholders in the field. This means that everyone can confidently access reliable and up-to-date information about the organizations listed, and thus help them.

In a project of this size, Drupal is core to the system:

It automatically centralizes and synchronizes data from multiple official sources. Every night, information from more than 30,000 organizations is updated without manual intervention, ensuring the reliability and freshness of the content.
It offers organizations secure access to independently manage their profile page. Through a user account, each association can customize its page to better present itself to visitors.
Drupal's native multilingual management allows the site to be offered in four languages (FR, NL, EN, DE), thus reaching the entire Belgian public. Each organization profile can be viewed in the user's language, enhancing the accessibility and impact of the site.
Drupal's search and filtering tools (views, Elastic Search, faceted filters, etc.) were used to build a powerful search engine capable of sorting thousands of entries according to numerous criteria.

In summary, thanks to Drupal, because.eu now brings together an entire ecosystem of good causes on a sustainable, scalable, and highly reliable platform—all in the service of a more inclusive society.
